yo yo...so today was my first day and as many said it was very boring. I woke at 5:50, extra early because we had to do security stuff before. So of course when i got the the place(like 10-15min away) i went to the wrong place 3 times before the right place. We all waited in line to get our pics taken for id badges. Basically the whole day was powerpoint presentations on Human resources crap, benefits and the most boring shit. Break for lunch and then mroe of that crap. I really really don't respect human resources people. This one man i can tell was a religious freak, he seemed very creepy. And i just looked at him with such disgust, not because of religion(that was just an observation) but because of the trivial stuff he was doing a presentation on. I'll bet if he killed himself no one would care. Government would just save money. The last lady was actually good, she was a sassy black lady who was actually funny. She talked about how u shouldnt point out peoples disabilities, except she said she always brings up the fact she has 8 toes when she gets pedicures cuz she aint payin full price! ha! Also the government stressed a LOT about going on pornographic websites, apparently there was a problem with that a few years ago in the FAA. It wasnt that bad cuz theres a boy and girl i'm friendly with that are in my class.
So at lunch i was eating with the girl and boy im friendly with and 2 nerds. Nerd 1 asked if we had kids/wives etc. I joked that i'm only 22. Now, ive always thought that I looked younger than i was, like i always felt like i was 17. If i heard a girl was 22 i'd be intimidated cuz it would seem way older than me. But then i found out nerd 1 was 30 and nerd 2 was 29! And the boy im friendly with is 26! I'm one of the youngest and most of the people in my class don't appear older to me, except for the 2 black guys.
After class i went to the gun range, so excited. I walk in in amazement at all the guns, it was pretty hopping. I video'd some of the guns(i'll post later) and a worker talked to me about it, cuz apparently a customer thought i was filming people. Anyhow i went to rent a gun and blast away. I rented the same gun vic Mackey carries ( and smith and wesson 1911). I didnt tell the guy i never fired a gun but made it seem like i was unfamiliar with that model so he showed me the basics. I was very scared cuz i didnt wanna look foolish. I loaded it up and fired and wow that gun was way powerful, dare i say too powerful? It was so adrenaline-y. I got the hang of it, although learned a great lesson. Wear your ear protection BEFORE you walk into the range. wow. i almost died when i came in. I made friends with an older man next to me and he taught me some things and showed me stuff. He showed me his carry and i realized why carrying is good. When he showed me his carry i immediately thought continue to be nice to him. Even though he was an extremely nice man. And i just thought about how most of the people in here must carry so you shouldn't go around being mean.
Also, on a pretty main road there is a very large house on a lot of land, prolly several acres that has horses in its front yard roaming around(fenced). It is neat

yo yo...so today was learning new place day. I discovered where the Wal Mart is(walking distance) and the gym is (5 min drive). The gym is actually at the city's community center, and the whole deal is really nice. It has the town hall, a bowline like type park and gyms, basketball courts, indoor tracks and stuff. All towns should have that.
I bought some things and went and hung out at the main house where people eat dinner occasionly.
At dinner there was a student i was talking to who from south and has guns, and it was so awesome. He showed me his carry gun and taught me about guns. He showed me clips releasing, slide, safety(gay) and bunch of other super duper awesome things. Im gonna go to the range tommorrow, i cant wait. All you need is a drivers license and you can rent any of a wall full of guns.
There's also a hollowed out corn silo thats now a rock climbing place which is cool. Oklahoma city is a small clean and pretty city. Im in a suburb thats like 5 minutes away and its nice. It's windy here, flat and spread out, and pretty now. Lots of new construction. Its kinda cool to be in a place for 6 weeks. Its like perfect amount of time.
Anyhow im gonna post some more pics and relax and go to sleep, tommorrow is my first day at the FAA. Until tommorrow. Oh, in case anyone wants to send me presents

yo yo...so as promised i will keep an updated blog, tho since there was so much i thought of on the way i may have to update. So i left friday around 4:30. Yes it was very sad. Early on i figured i'd probably be more sad to leave my friends than family, but when it comes to its kinda reversed(not that i don't miss friends). We all have friends that we talk to and are friends with that we don't realize we only see every few months. Family is always around, and especially people like me(i know nici is in same boat) grew up in the same house forever. Vincent was kinda lucky(?) that he moved sorta halfway. It sucks to leave your actual physical home, though i guess you have to eventually. Anyhow, i didnt get to see my Aunt before i left so i stopped there in Jersey on the way.
The drive wasnt that bad, i had queued up 7 O and A shows in a row, so i was set. I drove straight through in the rain until about 6am where i stopped at a rest stop along the side of the highway to nap. It was very uncomfortable but i managed to move my body into a spot that i could fall asleep in. I slept from about 6am-9am and was off again, stopping at a lovely waffle house for breakfast. Tennessee is queer. Its so damn long and so damn short. Along the way in Virginia and Tennessee you see lots of christian/Jesus billboards and random signs, and large elaborate churches. its queer.
About 1pm i stopped to take a little nap cuz i was falling asleep. I slept for about an hr and kept going to make it to memphis where my plan was to sleep for the night. I did. I had to stop on knxville cuz of a detour and and in a little small town saw a used tire store. The south sucks. its sad.
I stayed at a hotel in memphis and the next morning got bbq from a restaurant from DDD. It was good, not terrific, but the apple side dish that came from it was like apple pie filling, amazing. I then drove until little rock AK, where i stopped at the WIlliam Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library. I wish i could have spent more time. I actually liked Little Rock. Anyhow, oklahoma was boring until you get to oklahoma city, tho it was dark when i got here it seemed nice. I couldnt take any pics on my arrival cuz its so dark, but its broad, flat, and seems nice, i'll take some pics tommorrow. I'll stop with some random thoughts
-truck stops are MASSIVE
-i didnt change clothes or brush my teeth the entire time
-porn megastores are common off the highway
-a lot of pawn shops here
-the only bad part of the drive was my bum being sore
-when its main highways driving through other states really isnt as interesting as i hoped, kinda looks just like upstate NY, hopefully second leg through desert will be cooler.
-i texted a lot while driving next to large trucks on highways(if you texted me know that)
-speed limit was mostly 70, sometimes 75!

yo yo...so i'm almost packed and leaving mid afternoon tommorrow. its weird because earlier i figured i'd miss friends more than family, and its kinda reversed now. I guess we all have friends that when you think about it you see once or twice or year and don't realize. I was talking to Vincent and he put it very bluntly which felt good, when i said the person i said bye to was my dad last night he said "meh, it's not like you'll never see him again"...i'm also sad to leave my physical house, just because i've lived in this house basically my whole life. but at least it will still be here. and you do have to leave eventually. and i also think that i don't have to be gone forever, especially in my job i can def transfer, not that u want to go in thinking that, but knowing that the option is there makes it easier i feel.
plans wise i think im gonna stop in memphis to eat bbq(preferably somewhere from DDD), so i'll probably have two legs to get there, then one more leg. i really should have planned, im pretty much justing winging it. I'll post pics in every state on the way and will def keep a well updated blog when i arrive.

yo yo...So after watching an episode of Penn and Teller's Bullshit i really don't understand how anyone can favor full entire gun control. In the episode they interviewed a local politician(woman) from texas who is a big activist for guns. Both of her parents were also murdered by a gun weilding mad man. She told a story about how she was in a diner with her parents 15 years ago and a man came in and executed 22 people, by the time the police got there, her mother, holding her dead father in her arms, was executed. The woman had a gun with her, but laws at the time forced her to keep it in her car. It was after this that she became an outspoken proponent for gun law changes. This woman also scoffed at the notion of "gun free" zones because as she pointed out almost all mass murders occurred in gun free zones.
They also interviewed a former gang member in LA who said how he would laugh at gun control laws because it only made it easier for them because it didn't affect they way they got guns at all, because, well, they did it illegally. He pointed out that all the laws(20,000 on the books) do nothing because if they are bent on breaking the law what's another law for them? Only makes them more at ease knowing no good samaritans that they want to bonk over the head and rob will be armed.
Penn had a very good ending line that sums up the argument well. Insane people will always do insane things. And to think otherwise is insane.

"Today, I handed my PhD dissertation, which I have spent the past year researching and writing full-time. Last night, my roommate set an autocorrect on Word that changed "neither" to "nigger." I didn't notice until after I handed it in. My professor is black. FML"
