Ni Hao, Hello, Namaste, Hola, Zdravstvuite, Marhaban, Ei Je, Bom Dia, Selemat Pagi, Bonjour
Bless me father for I have sinned, it has been 4 years 2 months and 9 days since my last post.
I was asked for some input in the form of a "quote" from an anonymous blogger on a political subject, and I figured, what the hell, I like to rant and rave about shit...let me write a blog entry.
DISCLAIMER: I just got finished writing 3 essays for online classes. These consist mainly of ranting bullshit and this post is likely to follow suit.
so...American Politics. As a degenerate gambler and an odds junkie I will start by giving you a few betting lines offered on various sports betting websites. (the way that this works is that if you bet $100....the positive number will be your return...the negative is the reverse....bet X to win $100...i.e. if you bet $300 on Hillary and she wins, you win $100 - bet $100 on Micheal Moore and he wins, you win $500,000)
Hillary Clinton -300
Barak Obama +350
Rudy Giuliani +300
Arnold Schwarzenegger- +25,000
Bill Maher +100,000
Micheal Moore +500,000
Let's look this over. Hillary Clinton is massively favored to win according to the worlds foremost statisticians. No not pollsters or political analysts, bookies. If a political analyst gets the wrong data, he still collects his paycheck. If a bookmaker gets it wrong in Vegas, he loses about
$8 million. Her next adversary as Democrats go is Barak Obama.(this is where Holden Caulfield's classmates would yell "digression") I recently read (and yes finished...you can borrow it Mark) Obama's "The Audacity of Hope" Obama's vision of American politics, economics and foreign policy are profound. In my opinion, he's the perfect American candidate. Raised poor by a single mother, then well educated (Harvard Law) and brought into the life of privilege which most politicians share, but were born into. A very respected professor and lawyer, but still no stranger to the plight of the everyday American. Obama seems to be very in tune to everything that is going on in the U.S. right now. The plight of the American worker, the dangers in our foreign policy, the deficit, overspending, underfunding, over-taxation etc etc etc... He's a black candidate who sees the plight of African Americans, but does not propose any solution or proposal that even the average Republican would contest. He strikes an almost perfect balance of Republican sense and savvy with Democratic compassion. Myself being a self-professed cynic to the nth degree found myself at many times during the book accusing Obama of being nothing more than a clever wordsmith with a masterful talent of bullshitting both sides of an issue. But the more I think about his ideas and thoughts the more I see that they are simply solutions. Compromises. What democracy's goal has always been. He talks about the polarization of American politics and how there's no longer such thing as a pro-life Democrat or a republican who is against the war. The political structure no longer allows it. He calls for increased cooperation and compromise in government and has some really progressive ideas of how to fix every problem currently pressing in the U.S. - Looks great on paper. It remains to be seen how feasible these ideas are in practice. Obama's writing style stands alone as an attraction to this book. His diction and style are among the best in this genre and he does an amazing job of conveying his emotion through his words. Read it...Republican or Democrat. That Said....as Herminio, the illiterate, silver-toothed short order cook at New York Country Club would say [enyoy] your Republican. This is where Vegas is whacked out of their gourd. Hillary is a 3 to 1 favorite. Obama is not far behind. Neither is Giuliani. Looking back at past presidents' heritages, religions, and occupations, we find almost all of them to be WASPS. Of British decent, a background in law or military and some form of protestant Catholic. Although we seem to live in a very progressive society, it seems as though there are some latent rules for the presidency. Our only Roman Catholic, Irish (how exotic) President was assassinated in office. It is a far cry from and Irish Catholic to a woman or an African American with a Muslim father. There are parts of the country that just aren't ready, unfortunately. So as far as Vegas goes. Fuck you. I'm sticking with Giuliani as the favorite. Even if the Democrats are the majority, there's not enough who are willing to put a black guy or a woman in office. And for those of you who were planning on putting your money on Shwarzenegger, please put as much money as you can on him. Natural selection will see you rightfully broke and living on the streets considering the constitutional ban of a non natural born citizen being president. (Although I believe the odds here are better than when BetOnSports offered 1500 to 1 that David Beckham would join the Spice Girls, they would rename themselves The Beckham Girls and tour the world) I shit you not. The main problem is that if he joins the group and tours the world, but the don't change their name to The Beckham Girls, you lose the bet.
In closing. To paraphrase MostOffensive Video...
Fuck Hillary. Fuck her up and down and on her face. Stomp on her ass till she be beggin' for muthafuckin' mercy. Beat her ass with a closet stick cuz I can't stand that white bitch. Cuz their ain't no thing like slapping y'all across the face with my John Holmes while sippin' Hennessy, you Jew-banger.
Hillary (when prompted about raising the cap on the payroll tax above $97,000):
"It is absolutely the case that there are people that would find that burdensome. I represent Firefighters, I represent School Supervisors.
Barak: (paraphrased slightly)
Fuck you Hillary, you cunt. Only 6% of Americans make over $97,000 a year. Stop trying to call it a burden on the middle class. That's the upper class, you rug-munching slut.
